News: Bramall wins Barnsley council housing contract

By

Rotherham social housing contractor Bramall Construction has been appointed to build nineteen new council homes for rent in Thurnscoe - the first new council homes in the area for almost thirty years.

Barnsley Council and the council's housing ALMO Berneslai Homes secured funding from the Homes and Communities Agency for the development that will bring a derelict area of land back in to use and provide much needed housing for the village.

Bramall Construction and Barnsley Council have previously worked together in the area to provide property improvements as part of the Decent Homes programme. Bramall are experts in the delivery of refurbishment works and in the development of energy efficient and state of the art new homes.

Cllr Bill Newman, Barnsley Council's spokesperson for Development said: "I am delighted to see the work to develop the new council houses for rent in Thurnscoe is progressing. This development will complement the work of the current Housing Market Renewal programme that is taking place and will contribute to the continuing regeneration of the area."

Bramall contractors will be on site in September and the first new homes will be ready for their new occupants in summer 2011.
