News: Horbury Group secures £1.5m deal

By

Rotherham construction specialist, The Horbury Group is adding to its public sector success after securing a contract to complete work on the £27 million redevelopment of two Liverpool schools.

In a contract worth £1.5 million, the company has been appointed by Balfour Beatty at West Darby School and Ernest Cookson School in Liverpool.

Horbury Building Systems, one of the largest drywall contractors in the UK, will carry out the installation of ceilings and internal partitions, whilst MWS Joinery will complete joinery work on the development.

Part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme, the multi-million pound project will see the two schools, currently housed on separate sites in the city, co-located to form a Centre of Excellence.

Trevor Wragg, managing director of the Horbury Group, said: "The Horbury Group has achieved a wealth of success in delivering major public sector projects and this latest development highlights our growing expertise in this area. It is an exciting redevelopment for the city of Liverpool and will benefit thousands of pupils in the area.

"As the government continues its pledge to build more schools and hospitals, we are continually looking to gain further national contracts to add to our public sector portfolio and we are looking forward to another successful year in 2010."

The Liverpool contract award is further evidence of the Horbury Group's successful diversification into the public sector, having already secured major school and hospital contracts across the UK to compliment its existing portfolio of private sector clients.
